In some of the pieces, drawers and cupboards are replaced with durable, easy access kubu rattan baskets. Functional and attractive, these baskets are hand woven by village artisans from this native Indonesian Palm material. The floating shelf never looked so good. Typically a simple wooden plank, the Halifax design makes much more of a statement by increasing the depth and hand-finishing it with beading at the base and flared mouldings on top. Style tip: make a feature by using multiple shelves on one wall. Choose the same length repeatedly for a more symmetrical arrangement. Or mix things up by using graduated sizes, spaced sporadically.
